The recently released 2010 ARMA International Salary and Compensation Survey releases findings that are beneficial to practitioners and employers and cover a wide range of topics.
Several results are of particular interest. Two-thirds (66%) of respondents were very satisfied or satisfied with their present pay and benefits. Approximately one-third (31%) of respondents had been involved in records and information management (RIM) for 20 years or more. Only 16% had been involved for four years or less.
The survey addressed career training and development and found, when respondents were asked about the highest level of formal education completed, that more than half of them (60%) indicated a college degree had been conferred. Specifically, nearly one-fourth (24%) of survey participants had earned a graduate degree, while an undergraduate degree capped the educational achievement attained by 36% of individuals.
Survey respondents were aware of specific training gaps, beyond the need for RIM continuing education. This issue of Information Management reiterates the need for education and training.
